NRCA announces CEO William Good’s retirement

NRCA has announced its current CEO, William Good, will be retiring Dec. 31. Good has led the association for 28 years.

NRCA currently is in negotiations with Rep. Reid Ribble (R-Wis.) to succeed Good. Ribble, a former NRCA president, recently announced he will not seek re-election. Ribble currently is a U.S. Congressman for Wisconsin’s 8th District.

“I appreciate the possibility to return to the roofing industry in 2017,” Ribble says. “Roofing is in my blood, but I remain 100 percent committed to working for the citizens of Wisconsin for the remainder of my term.”

A roofing contractor by trade, Ribble joined Kaukauna, Wis.-based The Ribble Group Inc., a family business, in 1975, and became company president in 1980.

Ribble served as NRCA president from 2005-06 and NRCA’s senior vice president from 2004-05. He also was president of The Roofing Industry Alliance for Progress’ Board of Trustees from 2008-10.

Ribble has served as a member or chairman of several NRCA committees, including the Budget and Finance, Contractor Management, Government Relations Oversight, International Relations and Technical Operations committees.

In 2010, Ribble was elected to the U.S. Congress and has been re-elected twice. In Congress, Ribble has earned the reputation of being honest and able to work with representatives from both sides of the aisle.

He currently is a member of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. In addition, Ribble has served on the House Committee on Agriculture and Committee on Budget and authored the Biennial Budgeting and Enhanced Oversight Act aimed at balancing the House budget.

“Reid has proved he’s an exceptional manager and leader,” says Nelson Braddy, chairman of NRCA’s Transition Committee. “He’s an effective communicator. Those are both traits we are looking for. But he also understands from his time as a volunteer leader how associations work, and he certainly has knowledge of and experience in the roofing industry.”

Negotiations are ongoing and in the early stages but are positive. Good has agreed to stay on in a part-time capacity for a five-month transition period and officially will retire from NRCA May 31, 2017.
