Midland Engineering Company, Inc. Wins Gold Circle Award

South Bend, IN – February 26, 2016 – The National Roofing Contractors Association
(NRCA) has awarded Midland Engineering Company the prestigious Gold Circle Award
during its 129th Annual Convention held Feb. 15-19 in Orlando, Florida. Midland was
recognized in the Outstanding Workmanship—Steep-slope category.

Midland won the award for the historic reproduction of the roof on the Cathedral of St.
Paul in Birmingham, Alabama. The project required Midland to reproduce intricate,
multi-colored slate patterns in the 122 year old main roof and steeples, and fabricate
and replace ornate copper cornices and dozens of unique copper architectural elements.
Midland was also charged with improving the roof system to improve attic ventilation,
and updating the lightening protection system. All of this was done while not disrupting
the daily activities of the busy cathedral.

Founded in South Bend, Indiana in 1922, Midland Engineering Company is recognized
as one of the nation’s leading roofing contractors providing a wide range of industrial,
institutional, and commercial roofing services.
